The US may have the most obese population in the world, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have plenty of space for people to get around.

In fact, the number of obese people in the US is expected to more than double in the next two decades, reports the Washington Post, citing data from the US Census Bureau.

The figure, which includes people of all ages and income levels, currently stands at 45.1 million, a figure that is expected to rise to 98.6 million by the year 2045, or about 5% of the US population.

In India, meanwhile, the number of obese people is expected to more than triple in the next two decades, from 10.2 million today to 28.6 million by 2045, reports the Times of India.

India's government is trying to make the country's housing more affordable by using "green" construction technologies, such as low-emitting building materials such as flyash bricks, reports Quartz.

The government says it plans to cut carbon emissions by 9 million tons by 2024 under its Pradhan Awas Yojana-Urban program, which provides affordable housing for the poor.
