"We are all creative beingswhether we are artists, designers, singers or plumberseven if we don't realize it," Pardis Mahdavi, Ph.D., the provost and executive vice president at the University of Montana, says in a press release.
Mahdavi is one of nine speakers at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday, April 1, who will share their stories about how creativity plays out in their own lives.
The event is called XURI 2023: The Creative Spark and is free and open to the public.
"Be it a skill, a mindset, or baked into our DNA, creativity adds fullness to the world and what we can achieve," says Mahdavi.
Among the speakers are Saturday Night Live scenic artist Jillian Eddy, circus performer Jen Mott, surgeonFrancois Luks, author Ginay Lopes, and Iraqi War veteran Jeremy Bergantini, who founded the Tapped Foundation after his father suffered a series of strokes.
"Whether we realize it or not, everyone utilizes creativity in some way," Bergantini says.
"For me, creative spark is what gets me hungry while satiating my desires and motivations."
