The Ashland Community Hospital Foundation has awarded $229,500 to seven nonprofit groups working to improve the health and well-being of kids and adults in Ashland, Talent, and Phoenix.
"Health care now and in the future is about keeping people healthy through community-based programs, in addition to standing ready to treat advanced illnesses and injuries in our local hospital," Cindy Bernard, president of the foundation's board of directors, said in a press release.
The grants went to: The La Clinica healthcare network for expanding school-based health center hours at Phoenix Elementary School to keep the center open year-round.
The extended hours support the increased need for mental health services.
Rogue Valley Farm to School to support their Digging Deeper program designed to cultivate a culture of health within Phoenix-Talent School District elementary schools.
Options for Helping Residents of Ashland to increase access to services by converting space at the OHRA Center into a clinic.
The conversion will include an exam room and therapy room to support medical and mental health.
The program helps connect people to the care they need at the time they need it and potentially reduce the use of emergency rooms.
The Mercy Flights ground and air ambulance service to pilot their innovative Mobile Integrated Healthcare program.
